Jayco Fung

Jayco Fung joined the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC™) in January 2014 and now leads FSC market development across the region as the Head of Market Development for FSC Asia Pacific. Ms Fung has over 20 years of experience in the forestry sector. Prior to joining FSC, she served in both the public and private sectors, taking up environmental and sustainability roles relating to responsible forest management, value chains, trade and standard compliance matters.

FSC works to promote responsible forest management. Operating in more than 120 markets, it is the world’s most trusted forest certification scheme for businesses, including many Fortune 500 companies. Ms Fung has substantial experience with the FSC certification scheme and other international standards. Based in Hong Kong as a member of the FSC Asia Pacific Regional Team, she leads FSC’s B2B and B2C market development programmes in the region, and is responsible for the value chain growth strategy for FSC-certified forest-based materials and products, including tropical timber and non-timber forest products such as rubber. 

She initiates and develops partnerships with international brands, retailers and buyers to grow both demand and supply for FSC-certified products in the region. She also manages the FSC Promotional License Holders Programme which aims to increase the visibility of the FSC brand. Her ultimate aim is to develop market incentives and campaigns and establish collaborative programmes with industry associations and stakeholders to drive real improvements in forest management around the world for forests for all, forever. 

Sophia Lau

Ir Sophia Lau has been working in Environmental field for over 20 years. She started her career as an Asst. Environmental Engineer at China Harbour Engineering Company Limited. In 2007, she joined the airport community and developed the Flygreener carbon offsetting project at Cathay Pacific Airways as her first carbon project. Later on, she joined Airport Authority Hong Kong, established the Hong Kong International Airport Carbon Reduction Programme and led the programme for 8 years.

During the 10 years working at the airport, she conducted carbon audits and carbon training for a variety of airport companies which covered hotels, restaurants, logistics company, airlines and airline catering services etc. She also led the carbon audit software development project at Airport Authority Hong Kong in 2011 which is still being the key platform for AAHK to collect and calculate carbon emissions data for airport companies.

In 2019, Sophia established ASEL Environmental Consulting Company Limited to continue her aspiration to create sustainable environment and living. Under ASEL, she has been invited by various companies to provide consultancy and training services in particular on carbon audit and management.

Vincent Wong

Vincent Wong is mainly responsible for formulating, promoting and providing training on sustainable development of The Bank of East Asia, Limited. He has more than 20 years of experience in the banking industry, mainly serving small and medium-sized enterprises.

Before working in the banking industry, he worked in the marketing department of international organizations, including Toyota Crown, IKEA, etc. He has deep understanding about SMEs’ mindset and its operational difficulties.

He graduated from the University of Nottingham in UK, majoring in marketing, and obtained a master of science degree in marketing from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He believes best practice of SME would be flexible and well balance between sales & marketing and proper financial management. 

In addition, Mr. Wong has served as a guest lecturer in marketing courses at the Asia Pacific Research Centre of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He also shares SME financial skills and thought as a guest speaker in different occasions arranged by various business associations.

Anureet Kaur

Anureet Kaur is appointed as Softchoice’s first ever Sustainability Manager. In her previous role as a Senior Consultant, Sustainability and Reporting at Purolator Inc., Anureet led the Corporate Sustainability report, ESG disclosures, and created the organization’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory process. She also supported Purolator’s emission reduction strategy and pathway. Anureet is passionate about mentoring students, recent graduates, and young professionals who are looking to enter the sustainability sector. She conducts workshop sessions at sustainability conferences and universities in the Greater Toronto Area and provides insights on how Canadian organizations can address climate risks. She is currently appointed as a Sessional Lecturer/Professor at Seneca College for the Sustainable Business Management Program where she teaches social impact and climate justice. Anureet has 5+ years of progressive experience in ESG, sustainability strategy, climate risk, and policy. 

Anureet is born and raised in Dubai. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Sustainability Management. Topics that get Anureet hopeful: Climate and racial justice, youth involvement in Canadian politics, growth mindset podcasts, financial inclusion, and social impact.

Jeff Robertson

Jeff Robertson is the Director of Environment & Sustainability at Bimbo Canada (formerly Canada Bread), leading a national team in the execution of the organization’s 10-year environmental sustainability strategy. Prior to joining Bimbo Canada, Jeff held multiple leadership roles in the public sector (most recently as head of the Partners in Project Green group at the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority) and in consulting (most recently as Manager, Sustainability & Climate Change with Deloitte Canada).

Jeff is an award-winning thought leader in the climate change space, and brings technical expertise in sustainability strategy, climate risk, GHG quantification and associated methodologies/protocols, energy efficiency, carbon neutral strategies, and corporate environmental compliance in the areas of air, water, and waste. Jeff has written for multiple industry publications in the areas of climate change strategy, wastewater treatment and stormwater management, and has delivered speaking engagements at multiple domestic and international conferences. Jeff has also taught dozens of courses & seminars on climate change, GHG management, energy conservation and environmental compliance.

Jeff earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo. Jeff is also a licensed Professional Engineer (PEO) and a certified Environmental Professional (ECO Canada).

Laura Corrales

Laura Corrales is a Senior Consultant at PwC Canada’s Climate Change advisory practice. With an Industrial Engineering background and a Master’s in Sustainability from Harvard University, Laura enjoys the entrepreneurial nature of corporate sustainability, and considers herself a social intrapreneur who uses empathy as a tool to influence and drive change at different hierarchical levels. She has led grassroots sustainability initiatives within different complex corporations, and has worked on circular economy projects for industries like fashion, waste management, and event planning.

During her time at UPS Canada she started the first employee-led Sustainability Committee, joined Canada’s Sustainability Steering Committee, and developed a TCFD and Climate Risk Analysis for their Corporate Sustainability Office. Outside of work, she is a member of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, where she served as the first Community Champion for Canada in 2020 – 2021 after being Curator of the Montreal Chapter. Through the Shapers she has been involved in projects ranging from climate action and SDG awareness to women empowerment and closing the skills gap for fourth industrial revolution roles. Laura is also involved in other initiatives like the Climate Reality Project, Leading Change Canada, and is part of the Local Leaders Organizing Committee for One Young World Montreal 2024. In 2022, Laura became an Action Canada Fellow, Canada’s top accelerator for new leaders, where over the course of 10 months her team worked on developing policy recommendations to enhance newcomers understanding of Canada’s truth and history.

Laura left her native Colombia in 2014 and settled in Canada in 2016. She enjoys running, reading, and spending time outdoors with her husband and puppy.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and deliver the overall sustainability / ESG strategic plan development and implementation across the global organisation, working closely with colleagues in Group functions and all regional Divisions to ensure alignment with business strategy
  • Serve as subject matter expert in sustainability / ESG strategy and reporting for the Group. Untangle potentially complex and misguided information into compelling strategy, communication and value propositions
  • Provide counsel and support to the Group executive team in their external stakeholder engagements
  • Support the global and regional sustainability / ESG communications cascade in a highly regulated environment to support the organisation’s ambition to be a leader

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain awareness of evolving stakeholder requirements, ensuring strategy and reporting meets stakeholder needs and add value to the Group
  • Articulate a compelling narrative to engage and empower a varied group of external stakeholders, including Regulators, NGOs and Multistakeholder organisations
  • Be an ambassador of change, driving purpose-led messaging and ensuring it is embedded across all functions and communications channels, particularly with Regulatory and Corporate Affairs

Reporting & Policy Development

  • Develop and manage data-driven sustainability / ESG goals, milestones, metrics and governance systems alongside robust and engaging communications
  • Maintain awareness of global sustainability / ESG trends and tools, metrics and KPIs and share updates and implications with the broader Sustainability team

Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to successfully influence senior executives and external stakeholders, create a clear narrative to support strategy
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial acumen, ability to see the bigger picture
  • Detail orientated, ability to find creative solutions to complex problems, take the initiative and drive change
  • Ability to inspire and educate non ESG experts and engage them to support the strategy, break down complex data and communicate in a language which will resonate, using flexible communication styles

Sustainability Officer, Hong Kong (more info)

Responsibilities

  • To assist the Sustainability Manager in the implementation, monitoring, and communication of the BEA Group’s sustainability programme.
  • To support the Group’s environmental, social, and governance (“ESG”) data collection and reporting
  • To analyse ESG gaps through stakeholder engagement, ESG reporting, and disclosure exercises, address transparency gaps through improved disclosure
  • To coordinate Group-wide data collection and development for the annual ESG report, the Sustainability Section of the Group’s Interim and Annual Report, and related website content.
  • To maintain relationships with external parties including ESG consultants, ESG ratings agency representatives, non-governmental organisations, sustainability practitioners.
  • To participate in ad-hoc projects

Requirements

  • University degree, major in environmental management, sustainability, social science or related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience
  • Sound knowledge of ESG-related issues and development, ESG reporting and disclosure, with a passion for sustainability;
  • Strong research and analytical skills with excellent attention to details
  • A team player with good interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word-processing; and
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese including Cantonese and Putonghua.
